Author and High-Fashion model, Helen Martin Ippolito releases her book In the Wake of Broken Hearts, in conversation with her editor Jill K. Sayre. Books available for purchase, with signing and reception to follow the conversation.

When Helen discovers a letter buried deep in her late mother’s belongings, her entire understanding of her family and herself begins to unravel. What was once a simple story of love and loss transforms into a haunting journey across generations, where hidden truths and quiet betrayals echo through time. Set against a backdrop of grief, resilience, and forgiveness, Helen invites readers into the emotional landscape of a woman searching for answers and the courage to face them.

Helen Martin Ippolito rose to prominence as a high-fashion runway model in the rarefied world of couture, while also being equally successful as a model for commercial and fashion photographers like world class Victor Skrebneski. “When the past is unearthed, the truth can shatter or set you free.”

Helen cannot bring herself to write the painful part of her memoir of her life, so she turns to Jenna, a 30 year-old aspiring writer whose future feels uncertain. As Jenna unravels Helen's memories of Italian village courtships, fatal heartbreak, immigration to America, being a high-fashion model in Chicago, New York, around the US and surviving love that nearly destroyed her, she discovers secrets that change her own life forever. Bound by loss, courage and hope, Helen and Jenna help each other face the past. Based on a true story, In the Wake of Broken Hearts takes the reader on a journey through time, with secrets spanning generations, and love being the only way through.
