Author Henry Horenstein: Miles and Miles of Texas

  • BOOKSTORE 201 North Commerce Street Corsicana, TX 75110 United States (map)

We welcome renowned author, photographer, and RISD professor Henry Horenstein back to Corsicana from Boston to share his experiences photographing Miles and Miles of Texas - this special event marks our first in our Bookstore's new corner location since moving next door this summer. Henry will present from 4 - 4:30pm, followed by a book signing and reception.

This bound collection features nearly 100 photographs Henry has taken throughout Texas, mostly between 2021-2024. Texas has been a continual source of inspiration for Henry during his 50-year career, and these pictures reflect the people, places, and culture that make Texas so unique. Henry has made his name as a documentary photographer, and he has always held an interest in recording and documenting the lives of ordinary people. This quality imbues Miles and Miles of Texas with a grounded sense of humanity, and also ensures that there are plenty of interesting and often humorous details for readers to discover. More than anything, Henry appreciates a good story. His work is collected and exhibited internationally, and he has published over 40 books, including several monographs. Henry has also authored Beyond Basic Photography, used by hundreds of thousands of college, university, high-school, and art school students as their introduction to photography.

“Henry's world looks quite a bit like country songs sound: full of hard-working operators and lonely dreamers, half-full glasses and scorpion belt buckles, and a few tall hats, boots, bottles as well. It's a world of the honky tonk.”
— Birthplace of Country Music Museum

“From stock car racing to country music stars, [Henry Horenstein] is one of the great documenters of Americana.” — The Guardian (UK)
